From ice cream to face cream, we’ve learned how algae can be used in various products. But what about the sea water and air itself? They contain a mineral called iodine which has multiple benefits for human health!
Some benefits may be well-known. Iodine has long been used as an antiseptic, disinfectant and in pharmaceuticals. But did you know that you may get other benefits by just taking a swim or walking by the sea? That’s right. The iodine in salt is a natural bactericide, which means that cuts and even internal inflammation may heal faster after a dip in the sea/ocean. And you don’t even have to get your hair wet! Just walking along the shore will give you the benefits of iodine contained in the sea breeze, one of which is a potentially enhanced immune system.
