What is EMBRC France?

EMBRC France is the French node of EMBRC – a pan-European research infrastructure made up of a network of research organisations and marine stations across Europe that accelerates marine biology and ecology research through its knowledge, expertise, and services.
France joined EMBRC in 2013. Through its partners, it can offer researchers access to three marine sites. EMBRC France can support researchers through access to their exceptional marine ecosystems, state-of-the-art analytical platforms and tailored marine science training.
EMBRC France’s activities are operated by Sorbonne University and the French National Centre for Scientific Research.

EMBRC France’s Marine Sites
How EMBRC France can
support researchers?

The provision of marine biological resources is the heart of the services EMBRC France offers. It can provide a wide-range of marine organisms including: microorganisms and macroorganisms, strains and cultured marine models, and collected wild organisms from Atlantic and Mediterranean ecosystems, as well as coastal and oceanic environments alongside state-of-the-art analytical platforms. This is made possible thanks to three aquariology services, four culture collections, and a samples collection, managed by scientifically and technically skilled staff.

Biological resources can be supplied on-site or remotely from a range of cultured marine models or collected from wild stocks, and a wide range of microbiological strains (bacteria and microalgae). Accommodation and catering for on-site access are also available. Sorbonne University also offers a specialised service providing on-demand, tailored marine science training.
