**CLOSED** Project Manager for the “Preparatory Phase 2 of the European Marine Biology Resource Centre”

The Algarve Centre for Marine Sciences (CCMAR), a non-profit scientific organization at the University of Algarve, Faro, announces an opening for a Project Manager for 1 year (starting on October 2015) to manage the “Preparatory Phase 2 of the European Marine Biology Resource Centre” funded by the European Commission’s Programme Horizon 2020.

Description

Duties and Responsibilities of the Project Manager:
Manage, administer and execute CCMAR’s responsibilities within the project;
Ensure timely production of deliverables as specified within the EC project contract;
Represent CCMAR at EC Project meetings;
Manage the financial aspects of the EC Project;
Coordinate internal teamwork and engage project members as necessary;
Compete for new projects both from EC and other funding agencies.

Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge:
Proven expertise in EC project management/proposal writing is essential to be considered for this position. In addition we are looking for a person with:
University Degree with a background in Science, Business Management, Communication or equivalent;
Fluent in English (written and spoken);
Excellent organizational skills and outstanding time management;
Outgoing and with strong communication skills (verbal and written);
Able to learn and take responsibility quickly and proactively;
Able to work independently and under pressure;
Able to coordinate and supervise teamwork;
Diplomatic, and able to reach consensus;
Numerical and budgeting skills.

Work Conditions

o The normal place of work is building 7, Campus de Gambelas, University of Algarve, but the job will require travel in Portugal and Europe.
o The gross annual salary will be according to the candidate’s experience and profile within a range between €25.000 and €45.000 gross per year.
o Employment contract at CCMAR for 1 year eventually renewed in accordance with the project needs.
