POSTDOCTORAL POSITION ON GENOME ENGINEERING, TOULOUSE, FRANCE

Postdoc to work on the development of genome engineering methodologies in the diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum

A postdoctoral position on Genome engineering / Synthetic Biology in Microalgae

(12 months renewable 12 months)

Location: Systems Biology and Process Engineering Laboratory (LISBP), Toulouse, France

Job Description: Microalgae have become the center of attention within the scientific, economic and societal sectors due to their potential to unlock CO2 as a substrate for the synthesis of biological materials. However, there are a number of hurdles to overcome to mature microalgae as industrial platform for the productivity of a desired metabolite. The recent development in genetic tools to manipulate the genomes of microalgae cells has opened the way towards synthetic biology thinking and the development of metabolic engineering methodologies. In this context the postdoctoral fellowship will strive to develop new strategies offering multiple transgene delivery, and will implement new genome engineering methodologies to modify biosynthetic pathways for the production of molecules of industrial interest.

Required expertise and Prospects: Candidates should have a strong background in molecular engineering of microalgae. An additional expertise will be greatly appreciated in at least one of the following disciplines: synthetic biology, genetic engineering, metabolism, biochemistry and bioinformatics.

How to Apply: Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a one-page of research interests to Fayza Daboussi (fayza.daboussi@insa-toulouse.fr)

Closing Date: 15th April 2016
