Metabolic engineering and selective breeding approaches in the picoalga Ostreococcus tauri

Post doctoral research fellow in microagal biotechnology at the Observatoire Océanologique of Banyuls, France.

A postdoc position (1 year renewable 1 year) is available at the Laboratory of microbial Oceanography, Observatoire Océanologique of Banyuls sur mer (France). The postdoc is supported by the EU H2020   “European Marine Biological Research Infrastructure Cluster to promote the Blue Bioeconomy” (EMBRIC) project.  

The main objective of the project is to use metabolic engineering and selective breeding approaches in the picoalga Ostreococcus tauri ( Lozano et al., Plant Journal 2014) to select algal strains for the large scale production of compounds of interest in industrial photobioreactors.       

Requirements : Applicants should have expertise in biochemistry, physiology and molecular biology. Experience in the field of microalgal research would be appreciated.   Communication skills in English are necessary since the project will require frequent exchanges and meetings with foreign partners.
